Cast your mind back to the Spring of 2005 to those happy days when Lehman Brothers still existed and – along with many of its investment banking friends – was dishing out dodgy financial instruments, based on even more dodgy sub-prime mortgages, to unsuspecting investors.
Back then, the world was a great place to be. The FTSE, NYSE and Dow Jones were all going in the right direction, people were getting rich and nothing of the impending financial disaster was known. Or, if it was, it was being blissfully ignored.
Into this bubble arrived a new magazine focused on serving the needs of a profession which had consistently slipped under the radar of the vast majority of quality business publications and which had also escaped the strategic attention of many of the largest companies in the world.
European Leaders in Procurement – the precursor to Procurement Leaders – was born.
